Prisoner Isei Korodrau who escaped from the Suva Cellblock last Tuesday allegedly tried to rape a woman and broke into a house while on the run.
Korodrau who was recaptured by the Police Strike Back team on Sunday is now facing five new charges of escaping from lawful custody, attempted rape, burglary and two counts of theft.
It is alleged that on the 27th of March, a day after his escape, Korodrau broke into a house in Namena Road, Nabua, where he tried to rape a woman believed to be in her 20s.
He allegedly stole some items from the house.
Korodrau was previously charged with rape, aggravated robbery and theft, and is now facing a total of eight charges.
He has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court until the 16th of April.
