The Fiji Rugby Union is currently paying off its 410,000 Australian dollars debt to KooGa.

This was revealed by FRU Chairman Filimoni Waqabaca during their Special General Meeting in Nadi yesterday.

Waqabaca said the debt has been in existence since 2010 and they have brought the debt down to just above 200,000 Australian dollars.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team will be getting a $10,000 bonus payment after losing in the semifinals of the NZ 7s last night.

Waqabaca said if they had won the tournament the side would have received a bonus payment of $25,000.

He also said if the Vodafone Fiji 7s team had lost in the final they would have received a bonus payment of $15,000.

According to Waqabaca from now on there will be bonus payments for a tournament win.

It was also revealed at the meeting that FRU is negotiating with another three companies in relation to the sponsorship.

Waqabaca said the companies include Vision Group, Fiji Water and Coca Cola.

Waqabaca added that these companies are likely to get on board and they will add to the $8 million a year sponsorship but they are not part of the consortium led by Vodafone.

It was also highlighted in the meeting that there are plans for a new rugby house and Waqabaca said it will cost around $9 to $10 million.

The new building will include a shopping complex and a hotel.

Most of the unions are happy with the FRU plans and they are looking forward to the Annual General Meeting in April.
