The Vodafone Fiji 7s team secured the third place play off at the New Zealand 7s after defeating England 14-7 last night.
Semi Kunatani scored the winning try in injury time after a long passage of play.
Fiji led 7-0 in the first half from a try to Benito Masilevu after bursting through the England defense.
In the second half, England level the scores after James Rodwell slipped through several missed tackles from Fiji before Kunatani scored the winner.
However, Fiji has been drawn in pool C in the upcoming Japan 7s with Samoa, France and USA.
Meanwhile, Fiji was beaten in the Cup competition after losing 10-0 to South Africa in the semifinals.
Fiji looked ordinary in the match as South Africa showed their class scoring two tries as they reached their fourth consecutive final in the World Series.
The national team is one of the sides that conceded most penalties in the New Zealand 7s which includes three yellow cards.
Lack of maintaining possession, coordinating and executing of their attack proved very costly for Fiji as South Africa dominated the game.
Meanwhile, concerns have again been raised on some of the decisions made by referee Matt O’Brian including the forward pass which led to South Africa's first try.
Fiji earlier beat Argentina 29-7 in the cup quarterfinal.
New Zealand is leading the overall World Series standings with 99 points followed by South Africa with 97 points and the Vodafone Fiji 7s are third with 73 points.
The All Blacks 7s team won the New Zealand 7s title after beating South Africa 21-0 in the final.
