Many reports are coming through of people assisting those who were stuck in rising waters in Qauia.

Some men and youths swam through rising flood waters to rescue several elderly people, women and children who were trapped in flood waters yesterday.

The rescuers included the Tabadamu and Red Rock rugby teams.

Meanwhile, people living in Qauia are still trying to recover some household items that they can use after flood waters washed away most of their belongings yesterday.

A resident Kameli Ratuvou said he was not able to save anything from his house as he was in Deuba and came back yesterday afternoon.

Ratuvou added that he had asked his wife and three children to move to high ground and leave everything behind.
