The Fijian Elections Office will now be able to bring opportunities into the region to enhance the electoral services that it is mandated to offer to its voters after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the MOU commits them to work collaboratively in strengthening their institutional capacity through the exchange of information and experiences, identifying opportunities for participation in human resources exchange programs and other activities in the field of election management.
He added that following the successful completion of the 2014 General Election, the Fijian Elections Office has been actively sourcing and securing partnerships with networks, regional and international organizations and election management bodies.
Saneem highlighted that the General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia has a reputable history of running elections since 1955 with a massive voter population of 190 million voters.
Saneem said they are looking forward to knowledge exchange initiatives and election study programs.
