The First Light Taveuni 7s team has been praised for their brave actions which led to the arrest of two men alleged to have robbed a taxi driver yesterday.

The incident occurred at Wailoaloa Beach when a taxi driver in his 50s was allegedly assaulted and robbed by two men who later fled the scene.

Another taxi driver who saw the alleged incident alerted members of the First Light Taveuni 7s team training nearby and they pursued the two suspects.

The team then apprehended the two men in their 20s.

Namaka Police were alerted whereby they arrived at the scene and rearrested the two suspects.

The two remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Divisional Police Commander West SSP Abdul Khan and senior officers visited the team at their camp and conveyed the organization’s gratitude for their actions.

Khan says it is always great from the policing perspective to receive any form of assistance that will lead to the quick arrest of suspects of crime and the actions of the First Light Taveuni 7s rugby team has enabled that.
