Statistics released by World Rugby reveal that there were major weaknesses in defence and discipline by the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team in the Dubai 7s over the weekend.

World Rugby statistics say that the Fiji 7s team made an average of 15 tackles per match in the Dubai 7s.

It says the Fiji 7s team missed an average of 8 tackles per match meaning that in the six matches Fiji played over the weekend there were only six successful tackles per match.

Fiji’s top points scorer in the Dubai 7s, Amenoni Nasilasila was the only player shown a red card over the weekend.

He got the yellow card in the fifth place semifinal against Argentina.

Sevuloni Mocenacagi also got a yellow card in the cup quarterfinal against USA.

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team is pooled with England, France and Kenya in the Cape Town 7s which will be held this Saturday and Sunday.

New Zealand is pooled with South Africa, Samoa and a 16th team yet to be confirmed.

USA heads Pool B with Argentina, Spain and Japan.

Australia is pooled with Scotland, Canada and Wales.

New Zealand now leads the World 7s series table standings with 22 points followed by USA with 19 points, England is 3rd with 17 points while Australia sits in 4th place with 15 points.

Fiji is in 5th place with 13 points while South Africa is in 6th place with 12 points.
