To help them better perform their role in pediatrics, fifty pediatric nurses from the Central, Eastern, Western and Northern Divisions are currently attending a twenty day workshop being held at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
While officiating at the Workshop, Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqanaibete says the workshop is part of continued professional development.
Waqainabete says that the Health Ministry does not only value its workers but values its patients as well.
He says they vary in their diversity and it is their role as professionals to put their prejudices aside and ensure that they provide the best of service.
He says the Ministry believes it is important to understand that with any professional work, continued professional development is very important.
Acting Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer, Margaret Leong says this training is skills based training and the nurses will be learning in depth about neo natal and pediatric resuscitation, and care of post operative surgeries.
The workshop which begins today has been organized by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Republic of China and is being conducted by seven staff of the Hunan Children’s Hospital of China.
