Police have stated that the 32 year old man of Nabua that was taken in for a case of damaging property but later passed away at the Valelevu Health Center was not assaulted nor did he have any injuries.

This confirmation comes after Fijivillage questioned police whether it was an assault case because it involved a citizen arrest.

Police say that the post mortem will determine the cause of death and they will take the next course of action once it is known.

Police say the victim was arrested by a citizen after allegedly damaging his vehicle which was parked along Narere Stage 1 on Saturday.

They say the victim was allegedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the arrest and was brought to the Nasinu Police Station.

Police say that after a while the victim complained of being ill where he was rushed to the Makoi Health Center for treatment.

He was then transferred to the Valelevu Health Centre where he passed away on Saturday.
