$3,000 will be up for grabs during the Pacific Energy Nacavanadi Old Scholars Sevens tournament this week.

Committee member Akariva Vura says that there will be 24 teams for the sevens tournament and 16 teams for the netball competition.

Vura who is also a former teacher says that registration fees for the rugby competition is $300 while $100 registration fees for netball where $3,000 will be the prize money for the winners of the 7s competition and $1,000 for the netball competition.

He says they have registered 17 teams where one registered team has come all the way from Nadroga to be part of the tournament.

Vura also highlighted that the money received from this tournament will be used for the development of Gau Island and also to showcase the talents that are in the maritime region.

The committee for Pacific Energy Nacavanadi Old Scholars Sevens tournament are pleading to the Vanua of Gau to come in numbers and support this momentous function that will be held at Beddoes Park in Gau from 7th and 8th of this month.
