34 local boxers to go head to head next month

34 of the best local boxers will be up against each other in one of Fiji’s biggest boxing promotion matches next month.

The South Pacific Boxing 2019 Title fights will include the men’s and women’s categories.

One of the major upgrades at this year’s Title fight is the inclusion of the Kids category where Promoter Freddy Chand’s son Melvin Chand will take on Ulaiasi Tovuga, Mohid Ali will fight Semisi Eliki and Junior Joy Ali; son of former welterweight champion Joy the Jet Ali will be up against Abishek Kumar.

South Pacific Boxing Promoter Freddy Chand says that they are also looking to include category for children at this year’s title fight is to develop boxing straight from grass roots.

He adds that they also hope to revive the women’s category at the title fight competitions.

In the main bout, Joseph Kwadjo will take on Savenaca Naliva in the Fiji Lightweight title fight and Ronald Naidu will fight Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana in the Welterweight title fight.

In the 8 by 3 main supporting bouts, Abhay Chand will take on Nereo Cakautini and Tomu Gaunavou will face Tevita Sete.

The South Pacific Boxing 2019 Title Fights will he held on the 9th of next month at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
